Larian Studios Reveal a Fresh Divinity, Calling it Their Largest RPG Ever

The speculation surrounding The Game Awards has been intense, notably after host Geoff Keighley shared an enigmatic image of a strange statue. The question has been revealed. Larian Studios is working on a brand-new Divinity game.

Revealed to be Divinity, the game was debuted with a audacious trailer that included intense imagery, from a figure engulfed in flames to an orgy and the literal descent into chaos.

A Different Direction

For those anticipating Divinity Original Sin 3, this is not that. Larian warned that a follow-up to its beloved RPGs is not being worked on now.

That said, the developer referred to this new Divinity as a evolution of the core franchise. This distinction implies that the team could be designing a faster-paced experience instead of another tactical title. Currently, it remains theory, as only a teaser video is available.

What Makes Divinity Special

The Divinity series is universally respected and arguably it sparked the recent resurgence of complex computer role-playing games. These games are known for detailed worlds, choice-driven narratives, and deep class systems—traits that later found massive success in games like Baldur's Gate 3.

While its universe is classic fantasy, what truly sets Divinity apart is the immense freedom granted to the player.

Where many modern RPGs have simplified options, Divinity is packed with niche playthroughs that are viable by choosing a particular class or origin with a unique decision path.

The series is also wonderfully open-ended, letting players to experiment both in story and combat. Nearly every quest can be completed in diverse methods, often in surprising fashion.

  • You might find an answer because you recalled something a dog told you.
  • Or, you could bypass a challenge by using the world itself in a clever way.

More to Come

It is this design philosophy that have cemented the series to hail games like Divinity Original Sin 2 as among the greatest role-playing games in history. Now, the RPG community can look forward to a new entry in this legendary franchise.
